In early 2006, DFID's Asia Department began to put together a new development strategy to focus attention on building new forms of partnership to eradicate poverty in Asia. As a first step, DFID, in collaboration with the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, arranged a conference held on the 6th and 7th of March 2006 in London. The conference, entitled "Asia 2015: Promoting Growth, Ending Poverty" brought together high-level international figures, including Asian Ministers of finance and planning, senior officials from across Asia, as well as influential figures from civil society and the private sector, to discuss the changing face of development in Asia over the next decade. The aim of the two-day event was to agree how Asian countries, together with development agencies and the international community, could meet the remaining (abstract from http://www.homeless-international.org)
