Follow-up Support Worker

Each client is assigned a Follow-up Support Worker (FSW), who works closely with the designated Landlord Liaison and client to identify and secure a suitable and appropriate private market unit. FSWs also support clients in maintaining their housing by assisting in areas such as budgeting, apartment maintenance and facilitating access to community support.

As the program grew and more subsidies became available, more staff were hired in order to maintain a client caseload of 24 people or less for each worker.

Salaries in the non-profit sector are notoriously low, however the agency understands that talented workers increase the effectiveness of the program and budgets for the necessary costs of attracting and retaining quality staff. The housing organization works to offer wages and incentives that attract high quality support workers who are experienced and knowledgeable.
