Health Status of Homeless Women - An Inventory of Issues

The term “homeless” refers to those individuals who are absolutely, periodically, or temporarily without shelter, as well as those who are at substantial risk of being on the street in the immediate future. Homelessness has always been a significant social problem. However, as the number of unhoused people has grown dramatically in recent years, some have declared homelessness to be a “national disaster.” Equally disturbing is the rapidly changing face of those who are homeless. Families, single mothers, and children are among the fastest growing segments of the homeless population.
