MODULE 1 – Introduction to Program Evaluation for the Homelessness Sector

In this course, participants will have the opportunity to extend their knowledge about Program Evaluation. We will review current research and information about program evaluation; we will examine case studies showing how other organizations have approached program evaluation; we will draw on the expertise of researchers in the field; and we will draw on our experiences of working in the homelessness sector.

This module provides a general overview of the principles of program evaluation, and it offers opportunities for participants to reflect on their organization’s structure, mission, values, and program evaluation goals. We have included case study videos in order to allow participants to see how other Canadian organization’s have used program evaluation to support their work.

By the end of the course you will have:

  • Increased your knowledge of program evaluation from the perspective of working in the homelessness sector
  • Strengthened your relationships within a community of peers who will support ongoing program evaluation activities over the coming year and beyond
  • Developed a plan of action for an evaluation of an agency or a program
