Findings are presented in this study of leaving care schemes in the UK. Concern at the vulnerability of young people leaving care to live independently in the community has been growing, and researchers from Leeds University spent four years investigating different approaches to this within three local authorities. Their report raises key issues and makes important recommendations for practitioners, policy makers and managers, not only in social services and voluntary organizations, but in other relevant agencies such as housing, education and employment. Social work and policy students should also find this useful.
