Winnipeg - Community Report 2009

For the last ten years in Winnipeg, the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba, and the City of Winnipeg have worked collaboratively to assist local community organizations revitalize Winnipeg’s older neighbourhoods, provide more opportunities to access safe, affordable housing, and create or enhance services for the homeless or those at risk of becoming homeless. 

Canada, Manitoba and Winnipeg have a proud history of working together to ensure the community is directly involved in developing programs that will meet its needs.

Through the combined resources of the three levels of government, we achieve a greater impact on assisting neighbourhood-based groups and service providers to help the people of this great city. 

In 2009, the WHHI invested over $28.5 million to reduce homelessness and provide over 1,400 affordable housing units in Winnipeg.

Since 2000, WHHI has committed almost $185 million toward the repair, renovation or construction of over 8,400 units and associated housing and homelessness programming.
