J. David Hulchanski is the associate director of the Cities Centre and professor of housing and community development in the Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. In the 1980s he was a professor in the School of Community and Regional Planning at the University of British Columbia and Director of the UBC Centre for Human Settlements. He has a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in urban planning. In 1997 he was appointed to the endowed chair in housing studies, the Dr. Chow Yei Ching Chair in Housing.
Current Research Projects:Housing, neighbourhood and community planning issues, including homelessness, discrimination, rental housing, and the related social policy and human rights aspects of these topics.
