This new report from PolicyWise for Children & Families and Dr. Carla Hilario (UBC Okanagan) uses linked data from five BC ministries to examine how experiences during adolescence are connected to homelessness in early adulthood. The findings show strong links between youth homelessness and involvement across multiple systems—including child welfare, family income assistance, incomplete high school education, and complex mental health and substance-use needs—highlighting the importance of early, coordinated prevention efforts and supports.
