This study follows the progress of ex-residents of ten Foyers spread over the North of England, the South of England and the Midlands over an eighteen month period. First of all it looks at the profile of young people entering and leaving foyers, including family history, education level and mental health and then it outlines the role of the Foyers, including their resettlement support services. The possible impact of foyer accommodation in the long-term is assessed, providing information on accommodation outcomes, work and education, training, income and debt, personal relationships, self-esteem and confidence and support networks. Lessons are drawn in relation to policy towards young homeless people and to services for them while they are living in Foyers.
