How to Help in Brutally Cold Weather

How cold is it in your city today? Early January’s “polar vortex” brings historically low temperatures across the U.S.: 7° in Nashville, -10° in Chicago, -7° in Omaha, 3° in Louisville, and -25° in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Just being outside is a health hazard, with frostbite kicking in after only a few minutes on exposed skin.

With temperatures like these, cold weather threatens to injure or kill those without shelter. To learn more, see our resources for responding to cold-related injuries among people experiencing homelessness: http://www.nhchc.org/resources/clinical/diseases-and-conditions/cold-related-injuries/
