Alternative Supportive Housing and Homelessness in the City of Toronto: An Exploration of ‘Streetcity’ and ‘Strachan House’

This thesis explores chronic homelessness among single women and men in the City of Toronto, and the various accommodation/housing types that have been available to members of this group. In particular, this thesis is informed by a qualitative case study of two alternative supportive housing projects within Toronto. This thesis is organized in six chapters to address the question: How are alternative supportive housing projects, specifically StreetCity and Strachan House, perceived by tenants and project staff as a means to address chronic homelessness in the City of Toronto?
