On November 10, 2009, the National Alliance to End Homelessness released the 2008 Data Update to Vital Mission: Ending Homelessness Among Veterans.
National Alliance to End Homelessness‘ Data Update includes the latest numbers of homeless veterans, demographic data on the homeless veteran population, as well as policy recommendations on how best to end homelessness among veterans. Headlining the report is the national number of veterans experiencing homelessness -131,000 – a decrease from the 2007 figure of 154,000, but one mainly attributed to methodology and not to an increase in effective programs or policies. The report is posted online with links to the 2007 Data Update and to the original 2006 report, as well as a link to an interactive tool detailing the state-by-state data.(Author).
