Beyond Ending Homelessness: An Alternative Perspective

This article is really a perspective of the author with very little reference to the literature on facts about the argument she makes related to the ‘problem of homelessness’ and how the discourse framed around this problem has resulted in a lack of community input into the solutions for homelessness. The result from the author’s perspective is that some inappropriate planning and implementation is happening with the proposed Calgary 10-year plan to end homelessness including the housing first concept. She claims there are other more pressing issues than housing and housing is but one component or symptom of homelessness that needs to be addressed.
