Clinician Rating Scales: Alcohol Use Scale (AUS), Drug Use Scale (DUS), and Substance Abuse Treatment Scale (SATS)

This chapter explains how families, clinicians, and mental health administrators have become increasingly aware of the problem of co-occurring substance use disorders in persons with serious mental illnesses, over the past decade. The authors discuss re liability of Clinical Rating Scales for alcohol use, drug use, and substance abuse treatment. Other topics concerning the scales examined include: data collection procedures; psychometric properties; utility; scoring and ease of interpretation; and limitations of instruments.
