The Effect of Group Homes on Residential Property Values in Stamford, Connecticut

This article reports on a study of property values in neighborhoods with and without group homes. Property sales were analyzed surrounding eight group homes facilities and 23 neighborhoods without group homes. Among the findings were that neighborhood property values were not significantly affected by the establishment of a group home and that predicted average appreciation rates did not differ significantly from aggregate city residential property appreciation rates observed by the Stamford Board of Realtors.
