Homeless Prevention Programs in Eastern Connecticut Receive HUD Funding

U.S. Rep. Joseph Courtney (CT-2) announced on Jan. 24 that organizations in New London, Norwich and Willimantic secured $1.781 million in grants for homelessness-prevention programs. “Homelessness affects men and women, veterans and children, and can strike without warning,” said Courtney. “This critical funding demonstrates to our local housing and service programs a firm commitment to ending chronic homelessness in our region and across the nation.” The grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will fund 14 projects through the Department’s Supportive Housing and Shelter Plus Care programs.
