A Way Home Washington (AWHWA) created the Homelessness Prevention & Diversion Fund (HPDF, previously known as the Centralized Diversion Fund) in 2020 as a tool for the Anchor Community Initiative to prevent and reduce homelessness for unaccompanied youth and young adults (YYA) between the ages of 12 and 24. After its third year of operation, the HPDF demonstrates that homelessness prevention and housing stability are possible when we put young people in the driver’s seat of their housing decisions. This report describes the program and its successes.
