Jobs and homes – a survey of prisoners nearing release

2,011 prisoners in the last three weeks of their sentence were interviewed in November and December 2001about their expectations concerning employment, training and housing after release. The main aim of the survey was to identify the proportion of prisoners expecting to take up employment or training soon after release. It also examined related factors such as previous employment, qualifications, housing plans and activities in prison. This Findings summarises the key results of this ‘Resettlement Survey’.
