This article explores the growing issue of homelessness among seniors, which remains poorly defined despite its rise.
Drawing from interviews with lived experts and service providers in Montreal, Canada, the research identifies four key factors that shape late-life homelessness: limited access to age-appropriate services, lifelong disadvantages, social exclusion forcing people to age in unsuitable places, and unmet needs due to policy failures.
The findings offer a new definition of homelessness among seniors to better understand this issue and create more effective policies and services to support older adults experiencing homelessness.
