The relationship between psychiatric disability and homelessness has been well documented in Australia and it is now widely accepted that persons with a mental illness are at greater risk of homelessness, and that a significant percentage of the homeless have a psychiatric disability of greater or lesser severity. Very little attention has been paid to the incidence of nonpsychiatric disabilities amongst the homeless either in Australia or internationally.
