Halton's wealthiest community is now also its first with a homeless shelter. The Oakville shelter is temporary and will house 10 people at a time for a maximum two-week period until permanent accommodations are found. Still, the shelter is a welcome step to help the homeless through the winter. It also provides breathing space for local politicians and agencies racing to create permanent shelters.
