Rehabilitating Ourselves: The Psychiatric Survivor Movement

The author presents the views of users of psychiatric services with respect to psychiatric rehabilitation. A historical overview of what was called the mental patients' liberation movement is given, as the author describes her personal experiences and work with former patients/ psychiatric survivors /mental health clients /and consumers. The existence of forced treatment at an international level is examined, as the author contends that consumers will define for themselves what their needs are and what are the best ways to assume a rightful place in society.
