Understanding and Collaborating with the Continuum of Care to Maximize the Benefits of HMIS Webinar
(January 16, 2014)
This webinar will focus on understanding the policy context and current priorities for HUD-funded Continua of Care (CoCs), and the importance and benefits of PATH programs’ active participation in local CoCs. SAMHSA has planned for all PATH providers to transition to full participation in Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) by 2016. HMIS is governed by local CoCs: understanding and collaboratively effectively with CoCs is crucial for PATH programs to accomplish a successful transition to using HMIS, as well as to maximize the potential benefits of HMIS to clients.
HUD’s policy priorities include giving precedence to the most vulnerable persons for housing, especially chronically homeless persons. Many persons in this population are those experiencing serious mental illness and other disabilities, and are also served by PATH programs. In addition, the ongoing implementation of the Homeless Emergency Assistance and Rapid Transition to Housing (HEARTH) Act has created new opportunities to streamline resources and services through the development of coordinated intake and assessment systems.
