Self care includes a range of proactive steps in response to the recognition of the impact the work has in terms of the demands it places on workers mentally and emotionally as well as the negative impacts of stress that can result when these demands are not effectively managed at either the individual or organisational level.Â
Â
Like all Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) responsibilities, the roles adopted by individual staff, management and the broader organisation to minimise stress and burnout is central to supporting staff wellbeing and a healthy workplace culture. Not only do we have a responsibility to ourselves to care for our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing; we have a duty of care to our clients to practice self care in order to have an optimum capacity for obtaining good client outcomes.Â
While the Self Care Tool Kit provides comprehensive information and resources, it is vital that should you have any concerns for you own wellbeing, to seek immediate assistance.
